Sid M. Duenas

Sid M. Duenas uses text, image and video to ruminate on the far-reaching and intimate effects of diaspora and Empire. His work considers an expanded notion of Songi (burn) as a method of synthesis; to apprehend distance, memory and knowledge through an iterative process. Duenas’ recursive practice uses a mechanism of transference—for example, using printed source text which is destined to be rubbed or pressed onto new or unexpected surfaces. Sid M. Duenas (b. 1973, Saipan.) Lives and works in Los Angeles.
